Sweet ‘Art is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to the promotion of upcoming and established artists through exciting art events with a difference. For our next exhibition at our gallery the Art Bypass Gallery, we will be presenting a solo exhibition of artist and performance artist Sadie Hennessy.
In 3025 a young girl called Mary Family-Planning* uncovered The Hoard of Battleaxia; the largest archaeological trove of artefacts from the Battleaxe Settlement, ever found.
Battleaxia was a community of older women, believed to be living apart from mainstream society and eschewing the company of men and established at the end of the 2nd millennium. The settlement was close to the Kentish village of Womanswold, near the South Eastern coastal mudflats. Scientists believe the hoard was preserved under a huge landslip, that wiped out the community but, due to the peaty earth, preserved the remains and treasures of Battleaxia. Analysis of the remains indicated that all community members were older females. Some animal skeletons, believed to be cats, were excavated too. The relics in the hoard give us insights into the lives of the women living in Battleaxia, in 2025 AD. Curated by Seet ‘Art, this archeologically display will invite further insight into the lives of the women and community practices of the residents of Battleaxia.
